Below is a list of things that really get my blood boiling while playing.
First of all, it isn’t really necessary to go out of your way to kill the Special Infected. Yes, I know they are tailing the group. However, they can only hurt you if you stray from the group. If you stray to kill a Special Infected, you’ll get hurt, and the Special Infected will win! Ignore them. Spend time killing them only if they are within your path, or if they are causing injury or are about to cause injury to a teammate.
You don’t get points for killing the most special infected! Besides, they’ll spawn again in 25 seconds anyway.
I also find I prefer Special Infected behind me, rather than in front of me. So leave ‘em back there. Also, if you go out of your way to kill a Smoker, they may secretly thank you later when they respawn as their favorite character, the Boomer, and vomit on all four of you.
The point is, don’t go out of your way to kill them because there is a greater chance of causing harm to you and your team than there is to benefit.
Heal your teammates!
Don’t be selfish. If you’re in the green with +70 Health and an extra Health pack, and your teammate Zoey just got boomed and pounced, has +35 health and no Health packs, heal her!
Several reasons: You are as fast as your slowest member. You are as weak as your weakest member. If all survivors are healthy and able to run, you have a much greater chance of survival.
Secondly, suppose Zoey were to get pounced again, and was to be incapacitated. She would now be one incap closer to death. If she were to get knocked down two more times, she would be dead, and your chances for survival just dropped 25% (or arguably much more). Also, why not? You may heal her, and then a minute later find an extra health-pack in another room.
Don’t be annoying!
Jesus Christ, if you haven’t hit puberty yet — stay off the mic! Or at least don’t talk so often!
